Tamil Nadu State Police Recruitment Board is responsible for the selection of Police Sub Inspectors (SI) to the Tamil Nadu State Police Service. Candidates with a Degree from any University or Institution recognized by the UGC can apply for the SI post in Tamil Nadu. This article explains the details of the selection process of SI in Tamil Nadu and the number of reported vacancies. Tamil Nadu State Police Sub Inspector Selection Procedure
TNUSRB has a three-stage selection procedure for a candidate before putting a candidate in the rank list. Details of Each stage:

  1. Written Examination
    The first stage in the selection of SI in Tamil Nadu Police Department is a written examination. Candidates must go through an objective type test containing 140 questions each carrying half mark. Time duration is 2 hours 30 minutes.

  2. Physical Measurement Test
    The below chart shows the required height and chest expansion for both men and women candidates.

    Male (General, BC, BC(M), MBC/DNC)170 cm
    Male (SC, SC(A) / ST) 167 cm
    Women and Transgender (General, BC,BC(M),MBC/DNC) - 159 cm
    Women and Transgender(SC, SC(A) /ST) 157 cm

    For men candidates, chest and expansion are 81 to 86 cm with the expansion of 5 cm. After the verification of physical measurement, candidates must go through Endurance Test and Physical Efficiency Test.

  3. Interview (Viva-Voce)
    Tamil Nadu State Police Recruitment Board will call 1:2 candidates for the Interview. Maximum marks allotted for Tamil Nadu Police SI Interview is 10.

How to Prepare for TN Police SI Examination
You must score maximum in the written examination to get the selection. Written examination has 140 questions which carry 0.5 marks.

Minimum Qualification Required
The minimum requirement a candidate should have to apply for the post of SI in Tamil Nadu State Police Service:
  1. Age Limit
    • Age limit to Apply for General category is 20 to 28 years

    • Minimum and Upper age limit to apply for BC, BC(M) /MBC/DNC is 20 to 30 years

    • For SC, SC(A) /ST candidates, the age limit is 20 to 33 years

    • 35 years is the upper age limit for Destitute Widow

    • For Ex-Servicemen, the upper age limit to apply is 45 years

  2. Educational Qualification

    Candidates should possess a Degree from any University or Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission.
