The Training and Probation of a Light Keeper and Signaller in the Port Department

Candidates selected as the Light Keeper & Signaller shall undergo the following training (during the probation period).

  1. International code signalling and knowledge of flags(Minimum of 6 weeks)

  2. The duties and work profile of a Light Keeper and Signaller (Minimum of 6 weeks)

  3. Upkeep of 'AGA' Acetylene light at the Government of India Light House Workshop (Minimum of 6 weeks)

Promotion and Transfer of a Light Keeper & Signaller

A Light Keeper & Signaller can apply for transfer only after completing five-year service in the appointed revenue district. You can read the transfer rules from G.O. (MS)No. 4/61/PD dated, 02.01.1961.
