One question we hear from our SI training batch at GJR Institute is the differences between a Civil Police Sub Inspector and an Armed Police Sub Inspector.
The primary difference is the department to which PSC appoints the selected candidates. The Public Service Commission sends the Armed Sub Inspectors to the Armed Police Battalion. They serve various armed police battalions in Kerala. A Civil Sub Inspector will go to station works.
Kerala Police Sub Inspector Recruitment Procedure

The written test includes two stages. They are the Common Graduate Level Prelims and Sub Inspector Main Examinations.

The Public Service Commission gives different age limits for various categories of SI vacancy applicants.

Kerala Police SI Written Examination Pattern
The Public Service Commission will conduct the SI written examination in two stages.
Degree Level Preliminary Examination
Sub Inspector Of Police (Trainee) Main Examination
The first stage of the Kerala Police SI written test is an OMR-based Degree Level Preliminary examination. It is an objective type test. The second stage is the Sub Inspector Of Police (Trainee) Main Examination. It includes special topics.

Kerala Police Sub Inspector PSC Examination Date
The SI Main examination date is 26 September 2024. We will update the physical test date for the category numbers 572/2023, 573/2023, 574/2023, 575/2023, and 576/2023.
PSC announced the examination date for the Police SI Recruitment test. It conducted the written examination for the category numbers 161/2015 and 165/2015 on 12.09.2015. The PSC conducted a Physical Efficiency test (for those on the short-list) on the date allotted to each candidate.
Kerala PSC Police Female Sub Inspector Physical Efficiency Test
The third stage of the selection process for Women Sub Inspector of Kerala Police is a physical efficiency test. Kerala PSC informs the physical efficiency test date for female candidates from the shortlist(based on written exam marks).
A woman candidate must pass five items from this table.

Completing five physical items from the list of eight is a critical stage in the Kerala Police SI selection process.

I always advise my students about the necessity of being physically fit to pass this test.
Many students in my training batch asked me for tips to pass the SI physical efficiency test. The only tip I can give is to start practicing the physical items before the actual test date.

Kerala Police Sub Inspector Promotion chances
Police Sub Inspector is a good career path with decent promotion chances. The first promotion is to the post of Inspector of Police (IP). The old name of this post was Circle Inspector.
The second promotion is Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP). The third promotion is Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Salary of a Sub Inspector in Kerala Police
I understand many students are eager to know the monthly salary of an SI. The Basic Pay of a Kerala Police Sub Inspector is 45,600-95,600 Indian Rupees per month.
A Sub Inspector of Kerala Police will also receive HRA, DA, TA, medical, and risk allowances. An additional allowance (per year) called uniform allowance is an extra.
Kerala Police Sub Inspector Written Examination Cut Off Mark
PSC allows the candidates who scored the cut-off mark in the OMR-based Prelim to appear for the Main. It prepares the final rank list based on the mark scored in the Main Examination.
