The Kerala Public Service Commission has invited applications from eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Prison Officer in the Kerala Jail Service.

Kerala Prisons and Correctional Service appoints both male and female Assistant Prison Officers. So, both men and women can apply for this job.

Minimum Eligibility to Apply for Assistant Prison Officer Post

    PSC accepts applications from candidates with a pass in SSLC or equivalent qualification.

  2. The Minimum Physical Requirements


    • Physical Requirements of Male Assistant Prison Officer

      Must have at least 165 cm height, a minimum of 81.3 cm around the chest on complete exhalation, and a chest expansion of 5 cm.

    • Physical Requirements of a Female Assistant Prison Officer

      PSC accepts any female candidates with a minimum height of 150 cm.

  3. The Age Limit to Apply For Kerala Assistant Prison Officers

    The age limit to apply for both male and female Assistant Prison Officers is 18 to 36. However, students from OBC and SC/ST have an upper-age relaxation. See the table for the Assistant Prison Officer PSC exam upper age limit for general, OBC, and SC/ST students.

How to Become an Assistant Prison Officer in the Kerala Jail Department?

Kerala PSC issues notifications for the Assistant Prison Officer recruitment (for male and female candidates). The salary scale of male and female Assistant Prison Officers in Kerala is 27900-63700 Indian Rupees per month.

It is unit-wise recruitment, and the expected vacancies of Assistant Prison Officers in each unit ( Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, and Kannur) are listed below. Both men and women candidates must have SSLC or equivalent to apply for Assistant Prison Officer.

Stages of Kerala PSC Assistant Prison Officer Recruitment Procedure

The Kerala Assistant Prison Officer recruitment process has two stages: written examination and physical efficiency test.

  1. Stage 1: written test

    The first stage is an OMR-based objective examination.

  2. Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test

    In this stage, PSC will test the physical fitness of candidates. To pass the physical efficiency test, the candidate must pass five items in the list below.

    The Kerala PSC has another set of physical efficiency test items for women candidates. She must pass five items from the list below.
